Overview
A radar chart (also called a spider chart or web chart) compares one or more entities across several metrics at once by plotting each metric as an axis radiating from a shared centre point. Every entity is drawn as a single polygon connecting its value on each axis, so a strong all-round competitor traces a large, balanced shape while a lopsided one produces a spiky, uneven outline.
Overlapping two or more polygons on the same web is what makes the format useful: gaps and overlaps between entities become visible in one glance, where several separate bar charts or a table of numbers would need reading side by side to find the same story. That's why it's a staple for competitive comparisons, skills assessments and win-loss reviews — anywhere "where are we ahead and where are we behind" is the question.
It works best with a handful of axes on a comparable scale. Mix a 0-10 score with a raw dollar figure on the same web and the dollar axis will dominate the shape regardless of how the scores actually compare — normalise everything to the same scale (like 0-10 or 0-100) before charting.

How it works
Each row of data is one axis (a metric), spaced evenly around a circle. Every entity being compared gets a value on that axis, plotted as a point at a distance from the centre proportional to the value.
Reochart connects one entity's points into a polygon and animates it growing outward from the centre, then layers additional entities as translucent, overlapping shapes so their differences are visible wherever the polygons diverge.

Watch out
Charting a 0-10 score next to a raw revenue figure makes the revenue axis swamp every other metric. Normalise everything to the same scale first.
Past 3-4 overlapping polygons, it becomes hard to tell which shape belongs to which entity. Split into separate charts or drop to the entities that matter most.
With only 1-2 metrics, a radar chart adds visual complexity a simple bar chart wouldn't need. Save the web shape for genuinely multi-dimensional comparisons.
Scattering related metrics randomly around the web makes patterns harder to spot. Group similar metrics next to each other so a strength or weakness in one area reads as an obvious cluster.
